I was drawn into this kids book because as a kid I was always in love with monkeys. Recently I was on a cruise where they showed the film 'Monkey Kingdom', so I was a bit curious about this. Note, this had nothing at all to do with that film. The book started out stating that there's over 264 species of monkeys. Then the book briefly explored.... 14 varieties. It's not anything elaborate either. There's a stock photo of the monkey along with 1-2 random facts that could have been easily swiped from the opening paragraphs of Wikipedia. I don't believe that much effort was put into this book. It's definitely way above the grade level of most 3rd graders. I'd suggest reading this with a 4 or 5 year old. There's no glossary which I found odd for a childrens science book. The pictures are very bright, vibrant and eye-catching. The font used is very clear and bright as well. It's really nice over all.

The monkey Kingdom species of monkeys
I got this book for my six year old. He has always been interested in animals and this book is perfect for him. The pictures in this book are wonderfully detailed photographs that are close up and bring the reader the best experience. My son enjoys the animal facts and loves to retell everyone all the things he’s learned about them. The monkeys are so interesting in this book. I found myself learning some things as I was reading it to my son.
I bought this book along with others in this series to take to a sporting event to keep my son entertained. While I was reading the book several kids came up and sat listening to the story and commenting on the pictures. This book is well written with cool facts that kids love to hear and are easy for them to remember. (144)
I prefer the digital versions of these books to the hard copy because the digital is so much easier to travel with and switch between. With an active lifestyle it helps to make even the simplest things more convenient.
We try to limit our kids game time by reading and it’s always a pleasure to find a book like this one that not only grabs their interest but can spark their imagination. During playing with his friends I caught little snippets here and there of the facts that they learned in this book. I’m always amazed at the amount of information little ones can retain.
During this event I actually recommended this book to a couple of moms whos kids had taken an interest to what I was reading.

Lovely way to introduce Species of Monkeys as seen through a Children’s book. Excellent material for home and school

This book “The Monkey Kingdom: Species of Monkeys”, is part of the series collection for 3rd Grade Science Series, published by Speedy Publishing. This is a picture book with short references for each photograph or picture based on the idea that a child will easy remember the concept by just looking into the picture related to that concept taught.
An excellent publication addressed to small children that can be used for teaching purposes and as a source to share a good lecture with your kids. As this book is about several species of Monkeys then any small children or reader will get an enriching knowledge experience by reading it.
It contains amazing full color, high detailed, photographs/pictures about several species from the Monkey Kingdom with concepts of their diet habits and references that characterize each one of them.
There are currently 264 known monkey species. From the smallest monkey in the world, the Pygmy Marmoset, who usually lives in dense rain forest and his favorite food is tree sap; to Mandrills who are omnivorous, the proboscis monkeys natives from Borneo Island, the Japanese Macaques with a diet of barks, twigs, fruit, insects, eggs and small mammals.
Many more beautiful monkey are depicted on this book, like The White-faced Saki, the Howler monkeys (the loudest of all monkeys), the Yellow Baboon, the Red-Shanked Douc (the most colorful primate species), the Pied Tamarin (from the rainforest of Brazil), the Mona Monkey (Western Africa), the Mantled Guerez (west central Africa), the Gee’s Golden Langur, the Grivet and the Javan Lutung (endemic species from the Island of Java).
As this book has beautiful, full colored, high detailed, photographs/pictures you may want to share with your kids and/or students as they can serve as point for further discussions or a way to develop language skill by promoting the children to express themselves about what they see and understand by looking at the photograph or picture.
