About the Author
John W. Santrock received his Ph.D. from the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota. He taught at the University of Charleston and the University of Georgia before joining the faculty at the University of Texas at Dallas. He has worked as a school psychologist and currently teaches educational psychology every year at the undergraduate level. In 2006, John received the University of Texas at Dallas Excellence in teaching award. His research has included publications in the Journal of Educational Psychology that focus on the contextual aspects of affectively-toned cognition and children's self-regulatory behavior as well as teachers' perceptions of children from divorced families. He has been a member of the editorial boards of Developmental Psychology and Child Development. His publications include these exceptional McGraw-Hill texts: Child Development, 13th Ed; Life-Span Development, 14th Edition; Adolescence, 14th Edition; Psychology, 7th Edition; and Educational Psychology, 4th Edition.

Great source of information

as a clinician who work with adolescents this is a very affordable book, not only that the information is current. It really helps me to refresh my mind when there is something I need to remember about adolescents. Any individual who works with adolescent this book is an excellent source of information. You don't need an PhD. or an MSW the information is simple.

Expensive, but not a bad 101 text.

This book could certainly have been a much shorter book than it was. It relies pretty heavily on graphics that don't add anything to the discussion of the text which tends to drive up the printing cost. The treatment of the material was suitable for an introductory class rather than an upper level class. The number of new editions that this line has put out seems to be pretty rapid considering the change rate of this field of information is pretty slow.

Best book I have read for Adolescent Health!

This was by far one of the best books I have read in studying adolescence. I have taken Adolescent Psychology, Educational Psy, Public Health courses, and other courses that relate, so there was some overlap. Although I had already learned some of these things, this book helped me cement this learning. It is really informative and features key stories, pictures, and examples that I still remember. I recommend to read this book!
