Machines and functions, Machines and logic

I'll admit I didn't understand much of what's in this book (will have to read it again some day), but the part I _did_ was accompanied by repeated feelings of "Aha! Finally!". It helped me get some sort of gut feeling on how the seemingly completely separate worlds of imperative machines and functional/logic languages are bridged in terms of implementation. Above all, don't be put off by publication date -- this stuff doesn't get old.
