The NZ atlas you need

This is the NZ atlas you need for your car travels in NZ. The spiral bound small format is perfect for travel packs and it is plenty detailed for all your needs, including finding those Lord of the Rings filming locations. I personally used it as "navigator" on a 1,000 mile South Island odyssey and found it highly effectual, even in some of the more remote regions. I purchased a second copy for my daughter, who is currently honeymooning in NZ.

Great Atlas, saved us a couple times while in NZ!

This was a perfect road companion for my new wife and I on our honeymoon to NZ. Despite taking plenty of screen shots of towns and routes that we were supposed to take we still ended up needing this guy more than once to figure out exactly where we were and how to get where we needed to be.

Blow up maps of major cities are a fantastic addition as well that way you don't have to carry around a clunky tourist map from every place you visit.

Only downside is some of the more medium sized towns don't have their own larger map.

This was very handy indeed and I highly recommend having one if you plan on spending time in NZ. It was slightly out of date but perfectly sufficient for our needs. Although its hard to tell from the posing, it is spiral bound which is helpful.

An Excellent Resource

In moving into a study of the doctrine of God, I bought this as a pair to go with reading through James Dolezal's "God Without Parts." This book certainly helps you work through other reading with finding definitions or longer explanations, but it also excels on its own. If you have an idea of a couple words that begin a study in a particular topic (such as the doctrine of God), then starting there, you can go from reference to reference finding all of the vocabulary in a field with very well thought out definitions/explanations. This is an excellent resource for any theological student.

Very Helpful Tool!

This is one of the most helpful tools in my library. Muller defines key Latin theological terms that you will read in key importantant works of dogmatics. He doesn't just give the simply definition, but also writes about its historical significance in the development in the history of doctrine. At the end of entry Muller gives significant cross-references of other Latin terms. This work opens up the rich history of thought in the church and is easily understood. This is a great tool for any student of theology, layman or pastor. You don't need to know Latin to profit by this book. I highly recommend this book!

Update.

I just purchased the Kindle version of this book. While the content of the book and the Kindle version is the same as the hardbound, it's functionality is very poor indeed. Using it on my iPhone, there is no table of contents in order to look up a word. There is an adequate search engine, but it gives you every occurrence of the word without being able to distinguish a major article from simply a usage inside of a larger paragraph.

Another flaw is that the Kindle version is not hyper link. At the end of many words and trees, Mueller has given additional Latin words to look up that are found in his text. It would be most useful to be able to just click on those words and go to their entry to read more broadly in the text. Amazon charges over $17 for Kindle version. IMHO, the Kindle version is worth about $.99. By the hardcopy forget the electronic version until there is some significant updating.

Warning on Kindle Edition of the Dictionary

The Kindle edition of the Dictionary is not searchable (and the only index is based on English & has no page numbers) making it very difficult to use. A searchable dictionary is great, as the reader can zip straight to the desired entry but, without a search capability or even an index, the only way to find an entry is the old-fashioned way - by iteratively flipping pages in the guessed-at location of the desired entry; given that each Kindle page flip takes 6 to 8 thumb strokes, this is a very cumbersome process. For $5 more you could buy the paperback which, although you probably won't carry it with you on the road, would be much more usable.

Note: Within an hour of bringing this to Amazon's attention (on a Saturday, no less), they had refunded my purchase priced and promised to look into this design flaw (my term) and to let me know if it gets fixed.

Baddest man on the planet writes the best book of the year

The day this book was released, I read an excerpt posted somewhere or another wherein Tyson strangles Don King from the back seat of a limousine that King is driving. That sold me - I thought I was going to read a couple hundred pages of Mike Tyson telling insane stories. What I got was immeasurably better.

This book is Mike Tyson's life story, in Mike Tyson's words, as told to a writer. It might not be the undisputed truth, but it is his truth, and it's his entire truth. It is brutally, unforgivingly honest, and while he has few kind words for the likes of King, Robin Givens, and Desiree Washington, no one fares worse in these pages than Tyson himself.

Whatever you may think of Tyson, he is without a doubt one of the most fascinating sports figures of the past hundred years. He's a study in contradictions: a terrifying boxer with a temper that one could charitably describe as "mercurial" and yet he speaks softly, almost effeminately, with a lisp. The man said he was going to eat Lennox Lewis' children and praised Allah in the same sentence. He was paid tens of millions of dollars for fights that often lasted less than one round, and was bankrupt within ten years. Of course this guy's story is going to be great.

But the two episodes in his life that he's most known for, his tumultuous (and allegedly abusive) marriage to Robin Givens, and his rape trial after a night with pageant contestant Desiree Washington gone horribly, irreversibly wrong, aren't glossed over. At all. If anything, he talks about them - the trial in particular - in detail that's simply uncomfortable. And it has to be. If he's to have any absolution, any redemption in the public's eye, he has to be able to tell his side of the story for those who want to hear it, those that wonder if perhaps his in-ring persona was unfairly turned against him.

Undisputed Truth spends many, many chapters on how that persona developed, from both his cruel childhood on the streets of Brooklyn, to his being taught by Cus, the only father figure he'd ever known. Tyson's relationship with Cus is a well-known and oft-romanticized slice of boxing history, and the realization that everything that he learned from his childhood and from Cus that made him the tremendous fighter that he was being precisely what ensured his time at the top was so short and why he was so ill-prepared for life as Iron Mike had to have been painful to come to and write about.

Whether you find Tyson as fascinating as I do, or want to learn more about the man behind the glove (and there's much, much more to him than I expected), or just want to know what in the world he was thinking with that tattoo, you absolutely must read this book. Don't expect 500+ pages of back-patting. All too often, memoirs are just a remembrance of happy times, rough patches smoothed over or omitted entirely. It's refreshing to read someone so well-known write something so unflinchingly honest about himself. This dives headfirst into the realm of absolute self-loathing. However much you might despise Mike Tyson for some of the things he's done in his life, he despises himself so much more for them.

I want to think that this is the time he gets it right. That this is the time he has another chance and doesn't throw it away. That he's able to wipe away a little of the stain from his legacy, to be able to provide for his family, to find some peace. After reading his story, I'm not sure, but I'm rooting for him. Just like the old days.

60 yr old, white, mother of 5 (who used to hate him) LIKES MIKE!!!

I confess I am only on chapter 2. It was very hard to put this book down after starting it yesterday. I found myself thinking about what I would say in a review. So far, it is a great read. It is well-written in a style that lets Mike Tyson's own personality and the unique flavor of his experiences tell his story. This is coming from a 60 year old, conservative, white mother of five, who thought Mike Tyson a bad role model for the same reasons he did. I was the last person who would have wanted to read something by Mike Tyson. A few years ago after one of his well-publicized scrapes, I saw him do a couple of interviews and realized he was developing insight. Suddenly, I liked him. I was rooting for him. I still am. I wonder if he even knows how important his story is.
I will update this after I finish.

Finished it and still give 5 stars. Got reminded of why I did not like him and then reminded of why I like him now. What Cus taught about becoming a champ now is being applied to the next phase of Mike's life. I believe he can do it. This is absolutely a story of one man's very tough journey.

A great read. Now wondering who will play the young Mike Tyson in the movie. There is so much to tell, maybe it should be a series (on cable, for the language and subject matter ).

Not for the faint of heart...

This is a tough read. Mike's had a tough life, but there is a lot of wisdom in his words. I honestly wondered if people who grow up like him, on the streets, practically feral, might prefer the jails because there is finally structure. It's a brutally honest look into a life so different from mine. Interestingly, we were born the same year, so all things considered, he just got the short straw when it came to parents. I am so glad to see how far he's come. His awakenings are hard-won. He can look back on such a harsh history (I think worse than "The Glass Castle" for upbringings) and see the light. Really interesting read and I've never watched a boxing match in my life.

The definitive guide for pre-2000 minor league sets. No other published book comes close.

Despite being listed as the "Premier Edition", it is, in fact, the ONLY edition. That said, it is simply the most comprehensive reference book for minor league baseball cards through early 2000. In no other book will you find this many minor league sets listed in their entirety. Even for anyone picking up later editions of the larger Standard Catalog, this volume is still essential, as the later, larger books eliminate the complete checklists for newer sets in favor of simply listed the set names and card quantities per set.

It is a crime against the hobby that there was never a later edition of this work published, but I understand the economics involved and the extremely narrow target audience. Despite Beckett's efforts in their online price guide database, there are STILL sets listed in this book that Beckett does not acknowledge, and this book is 14 years old. I still use this book on a frequent basis.

The most complete minor league price guide published today.

Sports Collectors Digest follows up their 1,664-page "Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards" with another informative price guide, this 480-page guide specifically covers minor league cards. SCD has done their homework with this guide as well, publishing more information on more sets than any other price guides available. I highly recommend this book!

Minor League card collectors, you need this book!

I collect all of the Red Sox minor league teams, and this book helped me identify all of those team sets, plus provided a name-by-name breakdown of players on all of the prospects and all-star sets. If you are a team collector, you will love this book!

My Personal Experience With Kundalini - Thanks Andrew!

Many years ago I started attending a local Apostolic/Prophetic church that began to toy with these spirits. After a while these Kundalini spirits took over the church. At that time I was deeply involved in leadership within the A&P move here in my city.(Tulsa, OK) I was approached about 5 years ago by those above me in leadership (Colorado Springs) who wanted me to be a "House Prophet" with all of the benefits that come with such a high position.($$$) I was even told to make up prophecies if the Lord didn't give me anything, so that the people would be moved. After they asked me to do this, I was driving home in my car and had to pull over to the side of the road to cry. I cried for an hour that day in my car. I called them the next day and told them, "I don't do a dog and pony show for anybody!" This same group have been the ones to bring in the Kundalini spirits as well as the New Mystics garbage. The current "revival" at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City is leading thousands of young people off the cliff and into the Kundalini experience. Here in Tulsa it has invaded almost every aspect of the Charismatic Church to one dgree or another, and has poisoned it so bad that many are completely under its spell.

I have been a pastor now for almost 3 years and I continue to warn as many as I can about the dangers of the A&P move, the New Mystics, and the Kundalini spirit. It has not made me very popular in my city but I don't answer to men, I answer to God. Some have walked away from this movement after educating them concerning the error. I thank God for Andrew who has had the courage to stand in the face of fierce Gnostic opposition to biblical truth. This book will be read many years from now (if the Lord tarries) and it will be seen as having a major impact on the Church.

POWERFUL DEMON

An excellent book written by someone who knows what he's talking about.
Like the author, I've been involved with the Charismatic churches for over 26 years, some good some not so.
What I can say is that in my experience in the Deliverance ministry, the Kundalini spirit is one of the most powerful and unfortunately least understood spirits.
I would ask all believers to read this book and learn from it.
Very balanced, very accurate. Please do not be offended by persons and places named, I've been involved with all of them.....and guess what? Andrew is RIGHT!!!

Kundalini Warning-(A Trojan horse into the Christian Church)

My wife & I found this fascinating reading and a timely warning for those who may be tempted to experiment with the seemingly exciting phenomena of the spirit world.
If it is not of the nine manifestations (gifts) of the Holy Spirit mentioned in scripture (1 Corinthians chapter 12), avoid them as they are counterfeit.
Sadly we are hearing of well intentioned Christians who have been caught up in this deception in Melbourne today. Thank you Andrew for a frank and informative expose' providing many first hand testimonials. Bob & Elizabeth Manditch- Melbourne Australia.

For academics only

Pretty good summary of the academic literature on corporate level strategy up until around 2006. Sadly, it is the typical European academic synthesizing mostly American research. Such is the division of labour between Europe and the US. The book is heavy on boxes and arrows diagrams and weak on actual companies. This is a book for academics only and it is not at all bad. However, academics should read the original sources instead so I cannot give more than two stars. Practitioners cannot gain much relevant knowledge from this book. If you ask, I have better suggestions.
